I know there are many of you out there debating whether or not to sign up for the Nor Cal Regional, I have talked to several of you myself. If you are thinking about it, stop thinking about it and do it! Have you ever heard anyone say that they regretted enrolling for the 2008 Crossfit Games???? I haven't, but how many times have you heard people say they wish they had?

Prepare yourself for a challenge and sign up for the Nor Cal Regional!

LET THE SMACK TALKING BEGIN

NorCal Regional vs. Texas Regional from crossfitoneworld on Vimeo.

Freddy Camacho from Crossfit One World in Union City, CA and Jeff Tucker from GSX Athletics in Fort Worth, TX both attended the 2009 Crossfit Affiliate Gathering on February 7-8. It gave the boys a chance to get together and start a little friendly smack talking between regions.

The two must have been tired (it was a long, fun filled weekend) because they both forgot to give props to Jeremy Thiel from Crossfit Central in Austin, TX, who took a third. I say throw in Tamara Holmes from Crossfit Oakland (4th) and Jolie Gentry from Crossfit One World (5th) and the NorCal region is still looking a bit more stacked!

Who's region is better?????? A little friendly smack talking never hurt anyone!

Want to prove your athletes are part of the reason the NorCal Region is the best? We need stats and action pictures of your firebreathers. Use the same athlete profile that is currently used on the www.games. crossfit.com site. Email the information to freddy@crossfitoneworld.com.

Volunteer Info & Registration

There will be two groups of volunteers...judging and logistics (registration, parking, set up, clean up, etc). Both groups will be made of approx. 50 people.

For judges, we are looking for people who are not afraid to get in front of a pissed-off athlete's face and call a no-rep if necessary and stand by their decision if the athlete argues. Judges will be asked to attend a standards meeting possibly Friday, May 1 or the weekend before. Volunteers need to be available to work both Saturday and Sunday.

We are working hard to make sure the qualifying event is something all NorCal athletes can be proud of and the volunteer group is a big part of that. Each volunteer will get an official 2009 NorCal Qualifiers t-shirt.

We Want You!

Candace Hamilton, CrossFit Oakland

The title of this post says it all: We want you! More specifically, we're looking for broad participation on several levels during this whole NorCal Qualifier process. There are several ways in which you can be a part of this process.

  • You can participate as a competitor in the NorCal Qualifiers.
  • You can participate as a volunteer (send us an email for the password).
  • You can try your hand at t-shirt design. We're currently looking for that just-right design for the t-shirts that all competitors and volunteers will receive for participating in the NorCal Qualifiers. If you come up with the design we end up using, we'll comp your entry fee for the NorCal Qualifiers.
  • You can sponsor the NorCal Qualifiers (send us an email if interested).
  • You can send us your profile. We're looking to profile athletes on this blog, similar to what they're doing over on the CrossFit Games blog.

And for those of you who are on the fence about competing, just do it! You won't regret it.

Catching Up with Tamara Holmes and Jason Khalipa

By now, most of you probably know who Jason Khalipa is (2008 CF Games champion, from CrossFit Santa Clara). You may not know Tamara Holmes (CrossFit Oakland), though, who is a fine athlete in her own right. She finished just out of the money at the 2008 CF Games, coming in 4th place. (You may have seen her in the CrossFit Journal after she did Queen Kong, too.)

We had a chance to catch up with Jason and Tamara this weekend at Diablo CrossFit, who was hosting a Bay Area Rumble, in preparation for the 2009 CF Games.

Registration is Now Open!

The title of the post pretty much says it all: Registration for the CF NorCal Regional Qualifier is now open!

To register, you'll need to use the Google Checkout button at the upper right-hand side of the blog.

You'll receive an email confirmation once your order has been placed, as well as a shipping confirmation email once we charge your credit card or debit card. We won't be physically shipping you anything, but this email will serve as confirmation of your registration.

The registration fee is $75 through the end of February. Beginning March 1, the fee will increase to $100. So get in while the getting's good!

(And in case you're wondering, you will be getting a t-shirt.)
