If you haven't already checked yourself, the forecasts are calling for some showers this weekend. The workouts will go on as planned, and if necessary, we can run both Day 1 workouts indoors.
But we want you to be aware so that you'll come prepared, both as an athlete and a spectator. Pack some rain gear.
And now what you've all been waiting for, your heat assignments!
Just follow this link to open the PDF that contains heat assignments for every competitor this weekend (assuming you sent us that email).
Saturday Workout Times PDF
We've also posted the link to the PDF file on the right sidebar of this blog, just below the directions to the Ranch.
A few of you have been asking about the numbers, so here's some data for you to chew on.
- 128 men will be doing Workout A as rx'd.
- 19 men will be doing Workout A scaled.
- 49 women will be doing Workout A as rx'd.
- 3 women will be doing Workout A scaled.
- 120 men will be doing Workout B as rx'd.
- 27 men will be doing Workout B scaled.
- 24 women will be doing Workout B as rx'd.
- 28 women will be doing Workout B scaled.
Here's what you need to check on the PDF:
- You need to make sure your name is on there and it's spelled correctly.
- You need to make sure you have an athlete number assigned to you.
- You need to make sure you've been assigned heat times for both workouts.
- You need to make sure that your workout times are exactly four hours apart from one another.
Good luck to you all. It's going to be a great weekend!

Strong work. This had to be a brutal undertaking. Looking forward to the weekend competing with a bunch of great people.

I second the notion. Thank you.
I understand there is a mass check-in at the beginning of the day between 6:30-8:00. How will the heats be run? Is there a check-in time prior to your heat being started?
Rudy,
Yes, just as in the CF Games last year, you must check in ten minutes in advance of your scheduled heat time at your workout area.
And to all of you who are coming down Friday night, we'll be holding early bird registration from 5pm until 7:30pm Friday night. Feel free to stop on by and check in. It will make your Saturday morning a lot smoother!
Mike,
is the early registration on Friday night going to be at the ranch or in Santa Cruz?
Well, we initially were planning on doing it at the Ranch.
But now that you mention it...
For now, it's officially still at the Ranch.
But if enough competitors are going to the CF documentary at the Rio Theatre, we may change registration venues.
I'll post something to the blog if we decide to go that route.
Mike: If we could do alternate registration at ESC, that would be cool.
Mike - If you could possibly do reg at the Rio, that would be awesome. I'll be at the movie probably by 7 PM.
1 more vote for Santa Cruz
I'm leaving Palo Alto around 4 to come get registered. When can we expect a decision on location?
Thanks for having early registration.
I vote for Aromas as it's easier to navigate there than to get over and back over the hill on a weekend.
I vote for Aromas. Less traffic from Fremont.
All,
The logistical challenges are too many to make early bird registration happen in Santa Cruz.
We need to give you shirts, cards, waivers, and other things that require table space and a solid configuration.
So registration will be at the Ranch. That's a final decision.
We'll make the morning check-in as quick and pain-free as possible, for those of you who can't make it to the Ranch this evening.
Thanks,
Mike
